We’re thrilled to welcome players, supporters, and squash fans from around the globe to the official event page for the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships in Perth, Australia

30th August - 6th September.

Get ready for an unforgettable celebration of squash, community, and competition as we bring together masters athletes of all ages and nations in a showcase of passion, performance, and international spirit.

##################

Squash Australia (SqA) and World Squash are delighted to announce that Perth, Western Australia, will be the host city for the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships.

The World Squash Masters Championships is World Squash’s flagship masters competition and sees competitors aged 35+ compete in age-category events for the title of World Champion. Last year’s competition in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, saw a new record for participation being set, with over 1,200 competitors registering for the event.

Australia, the most successful nation in World Squash Masters history by total medal count, last hosted the event in 2001, with Vicki Cardwell, Fred Green, Mary Sceney, Sue Volzke and Thomas Spark bagging championship titles for the hosts. Sydney local Geoff Davenport, meanwhile, is the most decorated masters squash player in history, with the 67-year-old winning his winning his seventh World Championship title last year.

Next year’s event will take place from 30 August to 6 September and will feature a stunning all-glass show court, which will be erected in the City of Stirling, with action also set to take place on the 14 courts of Mirrabooka Squash Centre and the eight courts of Bellmont Squash Centre.

Squash Australia CEO Robert Donaghue said: “On behalf of Squash Australia, I would like to thank the Western Australian Government through Tourism WA and City of Stirling for the incredible backing they have given us. With their support, we’re confident this will be the biggest squash event ever hosted in Australia and we’re
looking forward to welcoming the world to Perth.

“Hosting international events in Australia is an important part of our strategy, not only does it provide our players with an opportunity to compete against the best in the world, it is critical in providing experience to our coaches, referees, administrators and volunteers, which they can take back to their local clubs and centres and continue to build on the capability and capacity of their local squash community.

“We also see this event as another great opportunity to provide exposure of the sport to the wider community and inspire them to come and try squash and experience all the benefits participating in our great sport can offer.”

Perth’s Sue Hillier, who last year won her third World Championship title with victory in the 60+ category of the World Squash Masters Championships, said: “I think the most fantastic thing about this is that people get to come here and see our beautiful state, our beaches which are the best in the world, and all the friends I’ve met in squash can come here and see where I live.”

Chair of the World Squash Masters Commission Garry Irwin said: “On behalf of World Squash, I am delighted by the return of the World Squash Masters Championships to Australia, my home country. Australia is steeped in squash heritage and its masters squash community is among the biggest and most active in the world. I am looking forward to watching all the action take place in Perth and would like to warmly welcome everyone involved, be they competing, officiating, volunteering or helping to run the event!”

Ron Smith, President AMSA: “The Australian Masters Squash Association (AMSA) is excited to be welcoming the Masters community from around the world to Perth next year, not only for the 8-days of competition on the court, but also to experience everything West Australia has to offer, and to meet new people and forge life-long friendships along the way.”

World Squash and the Chinese Squash Association are delighted to announce that the Chinese Squash Association will host the World Squash Junior Championships (World Juniors) for the first time next year, with Chengdu set to host World Squash’s flagship junior squash competition in July 2027.

World Juniors are held annually and see the world’s best squash players aged under 19 compete to be crowned world champions. At last week’s edition of the championships, India’s Anahat Singh and Egypt’s Mohamad Zakaria won the individual titles, while Egypt won both the men’s and women’s team titles.

Squash is one of the fastest growing sports in China. China has established and continuously refined a comprehensive squash competition system encompassing professional tournaments, youth events and mass participation activities at international, national, provincial and municipal levels. Numbers of participants in youth squash competitions have repeatedly hit new highs. Over the past three years, the number of junior squash athletes in China has grown by more than 50% year on year; the total number of squash courts nationwide rose from 400 in 2024 to over 700 by 2026.

The 2027 World Juniors will be hosted by China Squash’s state-of-the-art new National Squash Team Training Base, the Linjiangzhiyuan Training Base, located in Shuangliu District, Chengdu, China. The base, completed in 2026, covers 442 Chinese Mu (approximately 73 acres), boasting 22 World-Squash-certified courts in total – 16 all-glass courts and 6 panel -wall courts constructed by CGG, seating capacity for 800 spectators, a 155-unit athlete apartment complex, as well as an on-site hotel and restaurant.

Although next year will be the first time the Chinese mainland has hosted World Juniors, the country has a long-standing pedigree in squash, having hosted the Women’s World Squash Team Championships in 2018, the 2024 Asian Squash Team Championships, and major squash events including the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023 and The World Games in Chengdu in 2025.

As the hometown of giant pandas, Chengdu boasts abundant natural and cultural attractions such as Shu Brocade, the Sanxingdui Ruins and the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. All participating teams will have the opportunity to experience the city’s profound history, splendid culture and stunning natural scenery during the championships.

World Squash President Zena Wooldridge said: “World Squash is delighted to partner with the Chinese Squash Association to deliver the 2027 World Squash Junior Championships in the magnificent new squash venue in Chengdu.

“This is such a timely occasion to bring a World Championship to China, to add further impetus to the incredible growth of the sport at every level thanks to the dedication of the Chinese Squash Association and the wider Chinese squash community.

“We’ve witnessed the amazing quality of squash events in multi-sport games and Asian Championships hosted in China. The World Juniors 2027, taking place in the spectacular new purpose-built squash centre in Chengdu promises to be a remarkable experience for all participants and represents a major milestone in the development of squash in China.”

Wang Ding, Secretary General, Chinese Squash Association, said: “Hosting the 2027 World Squash Junior Championships in Chengdu marks a landmark moment in the development of squash in China.

“The Chinese Squash Association is greatly honoured to partner with World Squash to stage this prestigious global youth competition. We have established and continuously refined a comprehensive squash competition system encompassing professional tournaments, youth events and mass participation activities at international, national, provincial and municipal levels. Participation in youth squash competitions has repeatedly hit new highs. Building on this competition framework, we are advancing systematic youth talent development and grassroots promotion to encourage more young people to take up squash.

“With squash confirmed as an official sport at the LA28 Olympic Games, we will further improve our youth athlete development pathway and create more high-level competitive platforms for young players to gain valuable international match experience. The Chinese Squash Association extends a warm welcome to junior squash athletes worldwide to come together in Chengdu next year for this magnificent event. We will spare no effort to deliver a professional and unforgettable World Squash Junior Championships for athletes, officials and spectators from all over the world. This event will foster exchanges between Chinese and global junior squash communities and drive the continued growth of squash in China, across Asia and worldwide.”
“The whole experience will be inspiring and motivational for these players’ future development. On behalf of the Commonwealth squash community, thank you Malta and Gozo for hosting the event in your beautiful islands and thank you Commonwealth Sport for including squash in the programme.
